The 2020 NECO RUNZ is
an online training course that is being launched by the UK's Department of
Transport. The aim of the course is to help drivers become more aware of road
safety, and how to react to emergency situations, such as collisions or near
misses with motorbikes or cars. According to the company behind the course, it
will also teach drivers how to recognise road hazards like tree obstructions,
road work signs, potholes and so on.
The course covers
everything from the basics of motorway traffic to the different types of
weather that can affect your journeys. Drivers can get their hands on a
comprehensive guide to UK driving and get advice about the best routes to take
during bad weather and when travelling in bad weather conditions.
For new drivers the
course should provide basic lessons on what to look out for when driving around
on the roads and what they should do if they are involved in a collision. It
can teach them the basics of how to operate their vehicle on the road, as well
as providing practical information about their car. Most of the course is
taught on a computer, but there is also a lot of practical and in depth
information provided through visual demonstrations. Students will also have
access to an online support service to help them on any questions or concerns
that they may have during their learning experience.
Students of the course
can expect to learn about the types of signals that indicate when it is safe to
overtake on motorway traffic, as well as the different road work signs that may
appear on the road. If they are involved in a collision, they will be able to
spot warning signs and the different symptoms that can occur from an accident,
including whether it is a driver fault and what to do in order to avoid further
accidents in the future. They will also be able to recognise different road
works like road resurfacing and road work signs, and the way in which road
signs can be read, in case of a problem.
A lot of the course is
taught on the road, so students will be able to practise manoeuvring the
vehicle on the motorway traffic and find out how to react to emergency
situations that they might face. They will also learn how to check their car
engine and tyre pressure on the way down, how to use a mobile phone in case of
an emergency and how to negotiate difficult junctions or driveways.
As mentioned, the 2020 NECO RUNZ aims to improve the knowledge of drivers of the various road
conditions and road safety regulations that are relevant when driving in
motorway traffic. It should also provide drivers with essential guidelines on
the type of car that they need to drive, to help them avoid serious road
mishaps.
